Robber Drives Dagger In Man’s Head In Abuja (picture)

  1. A TEAM of Nigerian doctors in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territiory, has shown the wonders it can perform in the country with highly improved healthcare facilities, with a surgical feat, the kind CNN would have beamed to global viewers if it had been done in America. The story began when a commercial motorcyclist, Muhammed Kabiru, 35, first proved that he is a diehard and that God has special interest in him. He miraculously survived an attempt by a robber to snatch his motorcycle by stabbing him in the head with a long dagger that penetrated very deep into his head and stuck fast. It remained in that position until doctors surgically removed it after several hours. The incident happened in Abuja. Kabiru, who spoke through his brother, Mustapha, said that on the fateful day, one man, who pretended to be a passenger had approached him to take him on a ride to Masaka, a town in Nasarawa State that borders Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory, and they agreed on a fare. The journey along the highway was smooth with Kabiru not having an inkling he was taking the devil on a ride and that tragedy was lurking around. “As we approached the man’s destination, I asked for the transport fare of N300.00, which we had earlier agreed on. He dipped his hand into his pocket and what he brought out baffled me. Rather than give me the transport fare, he stabbed me with a dagger, thinking that I would fall off the motorcycle and he would take it away.” Taking up the tale, Mustapha said: “Alas, my brother did not fall off the bike, but instead he rode on with the long dagger stuck in his head.” Sunday Sun learnt that his situation drew the attention and sympathy of other motorcyclists around, who rallied round and promptly took him to a nearby police station to lodge complaints. “He was later taken to Pan Raf Hospital, Nyanya, where doctors led by one Dr. Odia and other members of staff battled to save his life, through emergency care. When he appeared to have stabilized, the doctors referred him to another hospital for proper management and careAn X-ray of the skull showed the dagger had gone in from the right side of the face just in front of the ear and was nearly poking out from the cheek on the other side,” a source at the hospital said.
  2. The terrible condition, Sunday Sun learnt necessitated an urgent surgical operation to remove the dagger stuck on his head and save his life. Realising that time was of essence and to avoid a situation where Kabiru would bleed to death, the two hospitals undertook the immediate medical care including surgical operation without demanding money. One of the doctors, who performed the yeoman’s job, Dr Biodun Ogungbo, a consultant neurosurgeon shared the case via www.dokilink, an online platform for Nigerian doctors. He said: “I got the call from the hospital at 6 am. They had also emailed the shocking pictures of the man with a dagger buried in his head.” “The hospital (Pan Raf Hospital), had mobilised a team of doctors and nurses to review, manage and operate on this chap in the quickest possible time. The ophthalmologist had reviewed and luckily, the dagger had not damaged the eye. He could move his eyeballs equally on both sides and without pain. There was also no blood in the eye. The maxillofacial surgeon was happy with him as well.” Ogungbo further stated: “No obvious bleeding from the nose or ear and all looked calm in the face. Except for this long handled dagger sticking out of him. The neurological evaluation was also satisfactory. He could give a good account of the incident. “We proceeded with plans for removing the dagger. First, we sent him for a CT brain scan to see what damage the dagger had done and the likely injured structures in its path through the head. “The brain and the eye as well as the big blood vessels (carotid arteries) supplying the brain all seemed well. It did appear that he had escaped major brain injury, stroke, blindness and immediate death. He bled a bit from the wound but was alive and still talking.” Continuing, Ogungbo said: “Under general anaesthesia, we cleaned the area thoroughly, including the knife and applied our sterile drapes around it. We then made fresh cuts in the skin to help expose the skull bone and the area where the dagger actually entered into the bone. “It required a big hammer and an outstanding effort to whack the dagger back through its track in the bone. A great effort was required and this gave further evidence, attesting to the severity and savagery of the attack. He did not bleed to death on the table and instead went on to make a safe and satisfactory recovery.”.

I’m Not a Husband Snatcher – Actress Stella Damasus Breaks Silence on Romance Scandal

Nollywood actress who has kept mum over the allegation that she snatched the husband of her colleague in the movie industry and ran away to America, has broken her silence, saying she’s 38 and was never a husband snatcherStella Damasus Popular Nollywood actress and singer, Stella Damasus, who has been an outcast of sort among some of her colleagues who have labelled her ‘husband-snatcher’ after she started living as a couple with Doris Simeon’s ex husband, Daniel Ademinokan. In an interview with Vanguard, the screen star said since the incident made news a couple of years ago, she has kept her peace, refusing to comment on the issue until recently. She said, “I have kept mum on the allegation until now and I feel it’s time I expressed myself. One of the comments I have seen consistently, over and over again is, ‘Stella snatches somebody’s husband’; ‘Stella the husband snatcher’; which is what has been going on. “And I had sworn that I would never talk about it or even listen or stress myself about the issue. But I have decided to talk about it now, so that I end it once and for all. “How is it possible to go to somebody’s home, take a happily married man, take his son away from his home and say follow me. “Let’s assume you are a man, and according to their story, he is happily married inside his home with his family complete, and I walk into that home to forcefully take a man, able-bodied man, and a kid, away from somebody’s hand and you are there looking at me. “So, logically, if people actually sit down and think about it intelligently, how do you snatch somebody from somebody and the person is there looking at you? “So when you see a man who has settled ties with a woman and decides to move on with his life and you feel that there is something in this man that you like and he likes you, is there a problem there? I am not a kid. I am 38 years old. I am not about to start hiding myself anymore,” she said..

It was coined off “Jenifa”, a Yoruba movie that focused on a character who made wrong choices and was wrongly influenced by her school peers. “It is not easy writing a comedy script but each time I want to put it to rest, people tell me that the last season was lovely and they keep asking what would be happening in seasons to come.” “They still want to see more because everyone loves Jenifa. I believe that Jenifa is a brand that has come to stay because we use her as a vessel to pass messages across to young people.” “I use the character to highlight some problems the youths face and also proffer solutions to these problems. I don’t see Jenifa’s Dairy coming to an end.” she concluded.

He has been on the run since then until his arrest four months after the heinous act. At times he would return and spend just a day and go back, sometimes leaving her with nothing," they say. Her family came to her rescue and helped to set up a second hand shoe business in Coontainer Village so she could take care of herself. To Kaliisa, this was the start of the troubles. He tried to dissuade her from working and urged her to hire an attendant. Meantime a determined Kyomugisha worked hard and grew her business, expanding to Park Yard and St. Balikuddembe market. Kaliisa reportedly got tipped off by friends that his wife had another man thus his decision to return to Kampala to monitor her. He started working in Kikuubo last December. Kaliisa put strict conditions for his wife among which was never to return home late. He told the police at Katwe that he always grilled his wife about the numerous phone calls she received at awkward hours of the night, strongly suspecting they were from lovers. She always told him they were only business colleagues. Bothered by the trend, Kaliisa started rummaging threw her belongings to find ‘evidence’ of infidelity. It was during one of such ‘fishing expeditions’ that he saw an HIV status card showing she was positive. All hell broke loose. Kaliisa says when he confronted his wife she denied having knowledge of what he was alleging. I can’t remember my life before l met my husband – Sonia IK Ogbonna

Actor IK Ogbonna's wife Sonia Ogbonna spoke to Punch yesterday and gushed about how much IK has changed her life ever since she met him

 Excerpts: Background:
Iam a blogger, life coach, relationship expert and a public relations executive at Motherland Beckons. I was born into a Hispanic/Latin-American family but I grew up in Belgrade, Serbia (former Yugoslavia). I got a scholarship to study at the University of Belgrade in 2009 and I studied Psychology and Sociology. I am currently studying for a master’s degree in Development of Third World Countries. Relocation I came to Nigeria with an open mind. I was ready to learn new things and fall in love with the culture, food, language, fashion and history. Meeting my husband I am married to a Nollywood actor, Ik Ogbonna and a mutual friend introduced him to my Instagram page. He got my Blackberry Messenger pin and the first message he sent to me was “Hello my wife.” At that time, we were continents away from each other, but that didn’t discourage him. It took him three weeks to convince me to visit Nigeria. We both followed our hearts and made the impossible quite easy. He told me he knew from the very start that I was his missing rib and that I would become his wife. I guess what is meant to be will always be. Marriage I have found marriage to be just a piece of paper that could mean a lot, but at the same time it could mean nothing. What really matters is the type of relationship you have with your partner. Ik changed my life moments after I met him. He always brings the best out of me. I became more confident, ambitious, wiser and happier. It feels like I can’t remember my life before him. Motherhood Motherhood is a very powerful experience. I am grateful for having a child with the love of my life, someone who adores me and genuinely cares about me. A lot of people don’t get to experience that. Privacy The idea of me being open about my experiences and writing about them on my blog is to let people know that they are not alone and that nothing is as dramatic as it might seem. People are scared of making their weaknesses known. Most of us suffer in silence and feign perfection. It is not a sin to feel pain, doubts, powerless, anxiety or frustration. Criticisms On social media platforms, I receive tons of beautiful, supporting, motivating and encouraging messages from amazing people on a daily basis, that it would be such a shame if I chose to focus on negative, petty little comments instead. However, I do not take it personal– people are mean to others when they are unhappy with their own lives and when they live in pain. It has nothing to do with me. Charity I’ve been involved in charity since 2009. I started as a Red Cross volunteer . Since I came to Nigeria, I have been involved in some educational projects in Lagos State. Beauty I drink about three to five litres of water every day. I love food, but I try not to eat after 8pm. I do a set of abs workouts every morning. I do not use creams; just raw, organic coconut oil, olive oil and shea butter. Style My style depends on my mood. Lately, I am been obsessed with ankara designs. But generally, I love simplicity and classic pieces.

SHOCKING.... How Tiwa Savage's Husband Swindled Gen. IBB's niece of N45million

It  has been revealed that the N45m Tiwa Savage made reference to in her interview that TeeBillz collected from someone currently after him, was actually collected from the last daughter of General Ibrahim Babangida, Halima Babangida's cousin, Hajara Mustapha. Like a sewer rat fleeing the onslaught of an unrelenting charwoman, Tunji Balogun, the troubled husband of Tiwa Savage, is running hither, thither as you read. Now that comeuppance stares him in the face, the dark menace of retribution makes a coward of him. There is no gainsaying the uncanny resemblance between him and the lead character of Anezi Okoro’s famous novel, One Week, One Trouble. Like the 1972 novel’s character, the dark-hued dude has been hugging negative spokes of the limelight in the past few days. Consequently, many are beginning to wonder whether he was the same self-effacing, promising dude they had always known. From allegations of advance-fee fraud to marital infidelity, TeeBillz excites malicious gossip in his wake more often than you could count. Adultery for instance, is a prison-house for TeeBillz – his lust for it however, accentuates its tragic manifestations on his psyche. It’s like a medieval dungeon built in an arena of flickering flames that scorches the body and scalds the eyes. In the heated pit, flames of desire and untamable wiles flare all around Tunji hence manifesting as one great furnace to him and his marriage. Flames flare around this great furnace yet and from those flames, there is no light, just interminable darkness and moonshine that serves only to discover sights of sorrow and feelings of woe. Very sad! You couldn’t have forgotten so soon that Tiwa mentioned it in her interview that Tunji collected N45 million from someone and they are currently after him. TheCapital investigations revealed that Tunji actually collected the money from the last daughter of General Ibrahim Babangida, Halima Babangida’s cousin, Hajara Mustapha, According to an insider, the poor girl who was apparently ignorant of his penchant for mischief, gave N45 million to him on behalf of Etisalat for a show. Immediately he collected the money, he had a rapid dialogue with his legs. He absconded. We gathered that Halima informed her cousin, Halima and they are threatening fire and brimstone, even as you read, to get the money from Tunji. They have informed EFCC to go after him. Now, he has been running from pillar to post, burrowing like heat-maddened rabbit, from one hutch to the other, in search of a miraculous lifeline and refuge from the reach of the EFCC.‎ However, as the walls of Karma close in on him, TeeBillz has started thrashing about like a bison drowning in a quicksand of wrath and its own stench. He has stopped clutching at straws in the air to sink his nails, like talons, in the hide of perceived detractors. TeeBillz sinks with his bulk deeper in the marsh of charges levelled against him by his wife and benefactor, Tiwa, every minute. All efforts made to reach him for his side of the story met with a brick wall.

Abuja Doctor to Divorce Wife over Her Addiction to Telemundo, Ignoring Wife Duties

A Pediatrician based in Abuja, Mr Chibuzor Eze has threatened to divorce his wife of so many years for her addiction to popular foreign soap operas, Telemundo and Zeeworld.

He

said, "I will divorce my wife if she doesn’t stop with this Zeeworld and Telemundo obsession. "I told her last week that I was fed up with how her obsession with these channels was making her to neglect her duty as a wife and mother. Yet she keeps watching these shows when she’s supposed to be partaking in more important things like taking care of the children and cooking reasonable food for us." Eze, who works with a government hospital, told the News Agency of Nigeria on Thursday that he had already informed his wife, Dorothy that her obsession to the soaps was interfering with her marital life. The pediatrician said he had to buy food from restaurants some times, as his wife had either forgotten to get what the family would eat ready or burnt the food she was preparing because of Telemundo. "Tell me, is this not enough to sue for divorce. As a doctor, I have a very hectic job and should come home to eat something and relax. I have purchased foods from restaurants four times in the last week, because I came home to an empty pot or burnt food and this is unacceptable." he insisted. He continued, "This is after I talked and complained to her about the effect Zee world and Telemundo are having on her. On Tuesday, she forgot to pick our 10-year-old daughter from school because she was watching her shows. "If these careless acts continue, I will be forced to leave her, because I won’t appreciate coming home to a burnt down house one day .’’ - The husband should just remove the TV for some time and the wife will relax, no need for divorce.

How a Lagos based make-up artist turned a tomboy into a 'bride' [Photos]

A Lagos based make-up artist decided to do a makeover for a tomboy, the result was mindblowing! Take a look at the photos. A lot of ladies love their makeup and a makeover is always a fab idea but some with tomboyish tendencies would rather skip this so when a Lagos based make-up artist decided to makeup for a tomboy, the result was mindblowing. The tomboy shares her transformation story, "I’m one of those girls boys don’t consider sexy or hot, maybe cute, but not sexy, I’m not curvy, I’m straighter than an arrow from the hip down, simply put, I don’t have ‘assets’. Ignore the before picture, I really don’t look that horrible, my Instagram pictures would present me as frosh, that’s what the millennials call it, right? I barely wear makeup, I think never… I run away from dinners and certain events because I’m a disaster on heels, it’s the greatest torture and my leg just wobbles! Flash back to my graduation dinner night when my friends had to hold me from the hall to the cab, and everyone just gawked at me, I’m sure the question on everyone’s mind was, “but, who sent you? Na by force Shade had been talking about using my face for her make-up shoot for a while now, but I really just couldn’t deal. Oh so I have to sit down for hours, while she scraped and brushed? ABEG
It’s not that I hate makeup, it’s just the time spent doing it or sitting through it that I hated… but the end product is simply a delight to look at! I mean, what girl doesn’t like to feel pretty? We danced around if I will be doing the make-up shoot with Shade or not for a while, but I eventually gave in, (like I always do ALL her demands), she didn’t let me check the mirror till she was done, the gele squeezed my destiny (never did THAT before too), but when I checked myself in the mirror, I SCREAMED
