EFCC boss visits Aso Rock, declines comments.

Ag .Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Ibrahim Mustapha Magu, was yesterday sighted at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa, apparently to see President Muhammadu Buhari. He came in a dark brown suit, a white shirt and a bow tie to match.

However, it was not clear if he met with the President as he emerged barely five minutes after going in as
Buhari was said to be inaugurating the National Research and Innovation Council (NRIC) about the same time.

Magu who was accompanied by a mobile police inspector went in clutching a file with the EFCC logo in his right hand and came out with it.

The anti-graft boss declined comments when approached by journalists for the reason for his visit and other issues.

Yesterday’s visit came barely 24 hours after the reported arrest of Brig-Gen. Lawal Ja’afaru Isa, (rtd), a former Military Administrator of Kaduna State under the late Gen. Sani Abacha’s regime and a close political associate of the president as well as a chieftain of the ruling
All Progressives Congress, (APC).

Isa who was reportedly taken away by operatives of the EFCC from his Asokoro residence in Abuja on Wednesday night becomes the first prominent chieftain of the APC to be arrested by the EFCC since the beginning of a sweeping probe into alleged diversion of $2.1 billion meant for arms purchase by officials of the immediate past administration.
